IHA Visits U.S. Embassy

On the 05th June 2009, the U.S. Embassy
in Canberra hosted a live telecast of Game – 4 of the 2009
Stanley Cup Finals in partnership with the A.C.T. Ice Hockey Association
to promote ice hockey and U.S. sporting and academic scholarships.
The event is part of the Embassy’s
ongoing program to reach youth and new audiences through the promotion
of U.S. sporting events. Not only did this allow the two nations
to demonstrate the shared values of fair play, but it also provided
an avenue for the Embassy to showcase Education USA Advisors and
promote study in the U.S.
Don Rurak, IHA President/CEO,
was invited on behalf of Ice Hockey Australia’s interests
in pursuing greater awareness and information to assist Australian
players who may be interested in playing and studying in the U.S.
Diplomatic Representatives from both the Canadian and Swedish
missions were also in attendance.

IHA National Teams Get ProSharped

Ice Hockey Australia is proud to announce a partnership
agreement with ProSharp, a leading performer in ice skate sharpening
technology.
ProSharp provides the latest skate sharpening technology
along with associated equipment, accessories and know-how to optimize
skate sharpening solutions based on the wishes and quality requirements
expressed by many other Federations equipment managers, national
team and pro players.
IHA President, Don Rurak, stated:- “Australia’s
national team players are constantly concerned on having the best
skate sharpening service available when playing at the IIHF’s
World Championships. This is not always achievable when depending
on the championship host’s machines. Players want to ensure
the best quality and skate sharpening consistency possible with
their sharpening. After trialing ProSharp’s AS 1001 Portable
model at the 2009 World Division I Championships, I am confident
IHA’s partnership agreement with ProSharp will more than
meet player’s expectations on all of our four national team’s.”
